We built a model that predicts how engaging NBA fans will find content. It’s pretty sweet, check out our other blog posts for more information. It’s surprisingly predictive (like 4/5 times it can tell if apiece of text will be highly engaging). To train it, we basically fed it a ton of NBA content and trained a model to identify (using NLP) highly engaging content.

We thought it’d be fun to figure out which teams generate the highest chances for virality/engagement using our fancy custom AI. To run this experiment, we entered a generic phrase into our NBA model about a team…and then simply changed the team name and watched the score change.

Okay… who had Cleveland at the top of their list? That’s wild. Interesting to see some of the big market teams in the middle of the pack(like the Nets and Lakers), it speaks to the glut of content out there about them.
So I guess if you’re an up and coming NBA content creator…attach yourself to the Cavaliers!
